Qatlab Trail Ammatour – New Hiking Trail in the Shouf, Lebanon

Discover One of Lebanon’s Wildest Eco-Hiking Trails

The Qatlab Trail in Ammatour is a hidden hiking trail in the Shouf, officially inaugurated on November 16 by the Municipality of Ammatour in partnership with the Shouf Biosphere Reserve. Designed for explorers and nature lovers, this trail offers an authentic mountain experience away from crowded paths.

A Trail for True Explorers

More than 300 hikers from across Lebanon joined the inauguration, marking the launch of a new destination for eco-tourism and hiking in Lebanon. The day reflected the true mountain spirit—local culture, traditional food, music, and a strong connection between hikers and the Ammatour community.

Walk Among Ancient Qatlab Trees

The trail passes through forests of the rare Qatlab tree (Arbutus andrachne)—some hundreds to thousands of years old. These ancient trees make the Qatlab Trail one of the most unique nature trails in the Shouf Biosphere, rich in biodiversity, heritage, and raw mountain beauty.

Eco-Tourism, Photography & Conservation

To celebrate the opening, a Best Photo Competition was launched, inviting hikers to capture the wild character of the trail while promoting environmental awareness and sustainable hiking in Ammatour.
