Maasser El Chouf to Jbaa El Chouf Sunset Hike

Join Highlanders961 for a moderate hiking experience in the Chouf Mountains, from Maasser El Chouf to Jbaa El Chouf, within the Shouf Biosphere Reserve.

This 13 km trail follows a scenic descent through the Chouf highlands. Along the way, hikers will enjoy open views over the Chouf mountains to the west and the Bekaa Valley to the east, with Qaraoun Lake visible in the distance and Jezzine on the horizon.

The route is planned to let us enjoy the sunset while descending, before completing the trail and returning to the bus by 7:00 PM. There is no hiking after dark.

The hike includes approximately 337 m of elevation gain and takes around 5 hours with breaks. It is classified as Moderate and is suitable for hikers with a reasonable fitness level who are ready for a full mountain day.

The $27 fee includes transportation, professional guiding, and entrance to the Shouf Biosphere Reserve.

Departure is available from Sour and Saida. Beirut pickup is available with reservations confirmed by Thursday, as transportation is arranged according to confirmed bookings.

Bring hiking shoes or sturdy sports shoes, a backpack, at least 1.5 litres of water, lunch or energy snacks, a light jacket, and sun protection.
