X27: The Riverline — Nahr El Joz Hike from Tannourine to Batroun

Join Highlanders961 on Sunday, October 4, 2026, for a 27 km hiking challenge from Tannourine to Batroun, following the Nahr El Joz river valley from the highlands toward the coastal plain.

X27: The Riverline takes our challenge hiking events in Lebanon in a different direction: a long-distance river valley crossing.

The Route: Tannourine → Batroun

Starting at nearly 900 meters above sea level, we’ll follow the marked trail along the riverbank of Nahr El Joz, heading west through the valley toward Batroun.

This is a point-to-point hike, with different starting and finishing locations. It is not a repeat of our previous Tannourine trail—this time, Tannourine is the starting line.

Trail Details and Difficulty

- Distance: 27 km
- Elevation gain: Approximately +370 m
- Starting altitude: Nearly 900 m
- Duration: Approximately 7–8 hours, including breaks
- Trail: Marked, point-to-point
- Difficulty: Level 3 — Advanced

A marked trail does not mean an easy hike. The combination of long distance and sustained descent will challenge your endurance, knees and leg strength over several hours.

Who Can Join?
This event is intended for experienced hikers with proven endurance, comfortable with long-distance hiking and extended downhill sections.

Participation is subject to approval. Contact Highlanders961 before reserving to confirm your suitability for the route.

Required Equipment:
- Hiking shoes — mandatory
- Backpack
- At least 2.5 liters of water
- Food and energy snacks
- Cap and light jacket
- Power bank

Hiking poles are strongly recommended for the prolonged descent.

Fee includes: Transportation, guiding and coordination.
